KISS honours ABUS UK with Gold Award

Richard Bland, Creative Director at integrated marketing agency, KISS Communications joined award-winning comedian, Adam Bloom to present a gold award to security company, ABUS UK at the Product of the Year 2011 Awards on Friday 13 May. Sales Director, David Hudson from ABUS UK proudly collected the award in front of over 300 leading lights from the DIY and homewares market. Two of KISS Communications' clients, Bosch and PlastiKote were also recognised for their product innovation by picking up silver awards. PlastiKote was awarded the accolade for its exciting new Outdoor Paint Range, creating a new sector within the paint market and Bosch for its Cordless Chain Saw. The agency, which has a solid track record in the DIY sector, has sponsored the event for the last two years. ABUS competed with fellow silver award winner, Masterlock and two of the company's products, including Masterlock's Electric Key Safe and its Reinforced Key Safe Combination Safe, but ABUS's Diskus Integral Vanlock was nominated for the gold award by the 13-strong judging panel of industry experts. Product of the Year 2011 Award, held at London's Sheraton Park Lane Hotel, is the biggest social event in the home improvement and home enhancement calendar and is organised by Housewares Magazine and DIY Week. There were twelve categories in total, with KISS Communications sponsoring the security products category. Along with KISS Communications, the Product of the Year 2011 Awards are sponsored by AIS, Black & Decker, Bosch, Clarion Events, The Cookshop & Housewares Association, Cuprinol, Dulux, EDRA, Fermoy's, GfK, GIMA, Hammerite, Home Hardware, International, Lakeland, Nigel Wright, Polycell, QVC, Sam's Trade Centre, Sikkens, Spring Fair and Autumn Fair and the Totally shows. Commenting on the event, Creative Director at KISS Communications, Richard Bland said, "The judges were looking for innovation, design, function and quality and ABUS impressed the panel with its exciting new Diskus Vanlock which has huge potential for up-selling. "We were delighted that two of KISS Communications' clients, Bosch and PlastiKote were also recognised at the awards." He continued, "Supporting new product innovation is something the agency has always been passionate about. The DIY sector is highly creative and has a constant flow of exciting new products."
